Custom Flags Australia was recently commissioned by Howard to arrange the design and production of a Crystal Palace flag, A lifelong fan living in Perth West Australia who has supported his team since birth. The custom made flag is in the clubs colours and the clubs logo, with the words Western Australian fans club printed in white lettering so it stands out. There is also an eagle on the flag because the clubs nickname is the Eagles.
The Fans Club here in Perth West Australia is made up of local and expat Crystal Palace fanatics. At present most of the communication and discussions about their team Crystal Palace takes place on the groups Facebook Page.
There is a bond between Australia and Crystal Palace. During the last twenty years eleven Australians have played for the Eagles. Carl Veart, Nicky Rizzo, Craig Foster, Craig Moore, Steve Mautone, Tony Popovic, Shaun Murphy, Anthony Danze, Nick Carle and current Palace and Australia captain Mile Jedinak. Mile Jedinak was also captain of the successful Australia team that won the Asian cup earlier this year.
On Thursday 3rd of September here in Perth at NIB stadium, Australia play host to Bangladesh in a World Cup qualifier game. It is more than 10 years since the Australian Socceroos national team have played a game here in Perth. The Australian captain Mile Jedinak also plays club football for Crystal Palace .Mile nicknamed the Jedi by the Palace fans is the most popular player for fans to want a photograph with alongside their flag.
On Thursday 3rd September the day of the game all club rivalries will be put aside so that fans can join as one to support Australia and walk together to the game. Meeting at the Elephant & Wheelbarrow Pub in Northbridge pre game from 1pm. There will be entertainment and flags available from Custom Flags Australia.
The Crystal Palace Fans Club will be bringing the custom made flag to the game on Thursday 3rd September at 7pm and will also attend the Australian Socceroos open training session which is to be held on September 1st starting at 3pm so they can hopefully have a picture with the Australian Captain.
After the World Cup game in Perth a group from the Fans Club will be travelling overseas to their “Mecca” Selhurst Park in South London, England to watch a training session and see their team play. Crystal Palace probably has one of the best atmospheres to found in the English Premier League at Selhurst Park. Most of the noise generated in the ground is in the corner behind the goal at the Holmesdale end. This section of the ground is made colourful by a great range of flags and banners that the fans have waving and draped . Songs like “Glad all over”, “we love you” with the words changed to all things Palace can be heard ringing out around the ground.
The custom made flag will be displayed at the game they attend and hopefully here at Custom Flags Australia from the comfort of our home we will be able to view the flag! We look forward to seeing it in London.
