Bowman Flag

The historical Bowman flag was designed by John and Honor Bowman of Richmond NSW in 1806.

The design was to commerate the Royal Navy’s victory at the battle of trafalgar in 1805.

The design shows the Kangaroo and Emu which is believed to be the inspiration for the Australian coat of arms. The shield has the English Rose, the Thistle of Scotland and the Irish Shamrock and the motto England expects that everyman will do his duty.

The original shape of the flag was a V shaped swollow Tail finnish.

Size – 150 x 90 cm ( 1500 x 900 mm )

2 Brass grommets/eyelets.

The flags edges are double stitched.
