Sandzak also known as Sandžak or Sanjak is a historical geo-polital region in Serbia and Montenegro that between 1878 and 1909 was placed under the Austro – Hungarian occupation and following was ceded back to the Ottoman empire. In 1912 the region was divided between the Kingdom of Montenegro and Serbia with the most populated City in the region being Novi Pazar in Serbia.
